One of the member services about which we’re the most excited in the SHMA is the “mentoring” program. This service is provided at no extra cost to the members and is intended to foster an environment of camaraderie among our members which is necessary for the success of new artists, as well as the success of Southern Heritage music, in general.

If you are interested in serving as a mentor for newer artists… or if you’re a newer artist seeking guidance in pursuing your musical career… feel free to contact us at the SHMA. We’ll provide you with a list of potential matches, if possible, and for no fee.

The SHMA does not verify credentials of either mentors or apprentices, so we strongly encourage each member to discuss their situation at length before making a commitment to another member in this process. Remember, some mentors will be more available with their time than others, as will be our apprentices. Make sure that both parties has roughly the same expectations of the relationship before commencing.

Although the SHMA does not participate directly in the mentoring program, other than assisting members in finding one another, we strongly support this concept as essential to the growth of our movement in the world of music.
